A practical Toronto basement cleanout checklist: what to sort, what to haul, how junk removal pricing works, and when to call a crew.
Toronto basements fill up fast: old furniture, sports gear, renovation leftovers, and boxes you planned to deal with later. A basement cleanout does not have to take all summer. Use this checklist, then decide what you haul yourself versus what Junk 'Of' Urs should take.
Label zones for keep, donate or sell, and haul. Work one wall at a time so you do not reshuffle the same junk for hours. Tape on the floor works if the basement is packed.
Tell your hauler about old sofas, mattresses, gym equipment, appliances, and renovation debris such as drywall, wood, or tile. Photos of the full pile plus the staircase help us quote accurately for East York, Scarborough, North York, and downtown walk-ups.
If items are already near the bulkhead or garage door, the job is faster and your quote stays cleaner. Curbside staging can mean a better rate when everything is easy to grab.
Basement jobs are almost always priced by truck volume, not by the hour. A small corner or a few bulky items often lands in the partial-load range. A packed family basement can reach a larger load or a full truck. Single items such as a mattress or fridge often start around $80. At Junk 'Of' Urs, the price is confirmed before we load.
